Second school visit and big girl pants

On Sunday we all went to school. Maia jumped in to play after a few minutes. She was still rather reserved and wouldn't talk to anyone else. But by the end she was having a blast with the toys and didn't want to leave. And this time she didn't complain about the other kids. Her first day of school is Sept 5. She'll go twice that week while I stay with her to acclimate her and then she'll be on her own the following week.

And last week I decided it was time to force the potty training since we'd plateaued a while back. Not sure what sort of sign we were waiting for now but it wasn't forthcoming so I took control. She now wears underwear when we leave the house. Only diapers during nap and night. After wearing the amazingly thick and absorbent Imse Vimse training pants the first day that didn't leak and didn't encourage her not to pee in them we switched to either real underwear or the gerber pants that really don't hold anything in. She refused to pee outside the house the first few days (and also resisted peeing at home. just held it for hours.) but only had one accident the first day. Very happy that Cindy mentioned the boys peeing in their shoes before I began this - she's been wearing her crocs as they can be rinsed out. And they sure were full after the accident. Since then she's mostly held it until we get home but she did pee in the toilet after her swimming lesson and at Chloe's consignment store (really helps that they have a little potty seat). Waiting for Cindy to send the travel seat (hint, hint). She's definitely exerting as much control over this as she can. Yesterday we were home all day but she still held it for 6 hours between am wake up and nap and then didn't go again until before bed. She did, of course, pee and poop in her diaper after nap. Because she won't poop in the potty. Not sure how to get her to do that. Guess it'll come when she's ready. Hoping that being at school with others that are using the potty will help encourage her.
