Also forgot that she started saying "yogurt" yesterday. Sounds a bit like "yeee-oh" or "yee-ooohh".
And today she got her first balloon from Dr. Simons and quickly added "boon" to her vocabulary. The n is very quiet. It actually sounds like she says "a boon".
Maia had her rather delayed 12 month visit to her "vet", Dr. Simons, today. We deliberately skipped it because we weren't planning on getting any vaccinations and that's the main reason why "they" recommend so many well baby visits. And around 11 months we were there 3 times due to the lead testing, the ear infection and ear infection related rash so didn't really think it was that necessary for us to take the time and spend $25 (plus whatever else ridiculous amount the insurance company will refuse to pay) just to spend 5 minutes with Dr. Simons while he weighs and measures her. So we waited and did it today for a 15 month visit. Spent 5 minutes with him while he weighed, measured etc, told him we had no questions, gave her a couple jabs (Pc and HIB), filled a lime green mylar balloon for her and sent us on our way. Gotta love how he doesn't waste your time and really appreciate that he does not see his role as being someone who tells you how to parent because he is not trained to do that. He's trained to be a medical doctor. He even made a comment to that effect today. Also REALLY love that he does everything and has no nurse. Right down to the balloon filling. He gave Maia what he called the "big kid" exam. And she's apparently graduated to having jabs in the arms now instead of the chubby baby thighs. She got one in each upper arm and looked sad, got teary and made a sad little sound but no tears actually fell. I was dressed prepared to whip out a boob to make her happy since she's gotten so she wants milk to make things better when she gets hurt or sad but she didn't ask for it. She was very quiet on the drive home and needed to get some nursing in as soon as we got home but seems pretty intrigued by the "boon" and kept talking about it while I was trying to get her to go to sleep. Now I think she understands what the balloon in Goodnight Moon is (currently one of her favorite books).
We forgot to get the stats printout from Dr. Simons so I'm guessing here:
Height: 31 inches/75th %tile
Weight: 22 lbs/45th %tile (this included all of her clothes and what was presumably a very wet diaper)
Head: 45 cm (17.7 in)/don't recall %tile
